Every time it snows chaos reigns from the sky. A plow operator courageously enters into this chaos to bring about and restore order for customers. We help people get out of their driveways, and businesses serve their communities in the Columbia Heights Area.
Details
- Position: Seasonal, Temporary
- Our snow season ranges from October 31st to April 30th. Candidates who can commit to entire season with be given preference.
- Ability to work days, nights, weekends, holidays
- Hours are contingent based on snow events. Shifts can be short or long depending upon how much it snows. 3 – 20+hrs
- Snow removal experience strongly preferred, but willing to train the right individual
- Pay starting at $25/hr depending upon experience and proven ability in the field.
What You’ll do:
Use a truck & plow or skidloader to remove snow from driveways, parking lots and paved areas. Clean, maintain and secure all equipment according to procedures. Be interested in learning to do all aspects of snow removal during the winter.
What You’ll be Responsible for:
- Safely removing snow using a snow plow and heavy equipment for several hours at a time, depending on the amount of snowfall
- Being available each time it snows and report either to a central location or directly to a jobsite
- Removing snow in appropriate locations as dictated by site maps – avoiding piling it on trees, shrubs, fire hydrants, gas meters, sidewalks, blocking doors or accesses, etc.
- Reporting any concerns or incidents to your direct Supervisor or Foreman
- Following safety procedures for equipment opperations
- Performing other tasks as assigned by Supervisor/Foreman
- You may be responsible for directing and supervising the work of others on site.
- Some shoveling and salting required on some sites
- Know each site and its scope of work. Understand and meet contract scheduled deadlines for customers without sacrificing great customer service or excellent quality.
- Communicate effectively with Office, Foreman, and other Crews in the Field.
- Take and record detailed job notes about each site when you are finished at each site
- Use a mobile phone to manage and access route(s) including apps like Google Sheets, Google Drive and Google Maps.
Requirements:
- Valid Driver’s license (Class D minimum) required, and Reliable transportation to and from any work site.
- Perform highly physical work outdoors on a consistent basis in all weather conditions, specifically very cold, icy, snowy weather.
- Aptitude to work independently with excellent time management skills
- Alertness – ability to have spacial awareness and operate equipment safely and effectively
- Reliability – ability to show up consistently
- Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds safely.
- Ability to sit for long periods of time
- Responsible use of company credit card for gas and repairs if needed during a snow event.
- A mobile phone
While not mandatory, it would be great if you also have:
- Prior experience operating snow plow equipment. Pick-up Trucks and skidloaders.
- Prior experience driving with trailers
- Ability to participate in routine maintenance of equipment
- Experience working efficiently in a production-driven / fast paced environment
- Have experience operating farm or construction equipment

What You’ll Do:
- Safely operate shovels and snowblowers to remove snow from hard surfaces/paved areas and sidewalks for hours at a time depending upon snowfall.
- Apply salt, sand, and/or other melting agents.
What You’ll be Resonsible for:
- Assisting Snow Equipment Operators / Plow Truck Drivers in safe snow removal operations.
- Being available each time it snows and report either to a central location or directly to a jobsite(s)

- Alertness – ability to have spacial awareness and operate equipment safely and effetively
- Reliability – ability to show up consistently
- Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds safely.
- Ability to sit for long periods of time
- A mobile phone
While not mandatory, it would be great if you also have:
- Prior experience operating a snow shovel and snowblower.
- Prior experience applying de-icing agents
- Experience working efficiently in a production-driven / fast paced environment
- Have experience operating in and around farm or construction equipment
